Vacation in Washington, D.C.!

The Mall

Charlaine and Justin in front of the nation's captial.    Actually, they were having an argument at the time, and stopped just long enough for me to take this picture.

Although our worthless congressperson was unable to get us tickets to anything in D.C., we managed to snag some Senate passes from the souvenir clerk(!), and saw several famous senators at work.    What they call work, anyway.

At the impressive Lincoln Memorial.

The National Archives is where the Constitution and Declaration of Independence are displayed.    I found the line too long, and instead toured a great exhibit of famous American photographs of the twentieth century.

Justin at the Jefferson Memorial.    There was a surprisingly large crowd here; it's quite a walk away from the other sights on the mall.    (You may remember the "Simpsons" episode where Lisa goes to see this monument, and Jefferson's statue complains that everyone goes to see Lincoln, and nobody comes to see him.)

Charlaine in front of the scaffolded Washington Monument.    They are renovating the structure, and did an excellent job covering it.    It looks really cool and space-agey.
